when they try to get "serious" they are damn near worse than when they are shallow. Some kind of way I tripped upon this trainwreck on B.E.T. called the "down low: exposed" The show is basically going around warning black women about getting aids from dudes on the down low. I wont get to deep but just a few high lights.
1. Educated sister who seems real together talking about how she caught it from a dude she knew had been in and out of jail alot but she was drawn to him because he was a thug.
2. Random thug cats talking about either being on the down low, or doing what u have to do in jail, or getting raped in jail. Most ignorant quote, "your body aint gay, your mind is gay, so that man didn't take your body, he took your mind but there musta been something in there anyway." Now I know what you're thinking, of course they had someone educated to come in and point out that all these gay stereotypes are just stereotypes, right? Nope...
3. The main focus of the show was that black women get aids from having unprotected sex with their boyfriends who are on the down low. Not that some women are having wild unprotected sex and that is a problem, and not that some men are just cheating on their wives with women and catching aids that way. Nope, Aids comes into the Black community by gay men having sex with each other and hiding it fromt heir spouses and significant others... Now you know.
4. The argument that they need to get lawmakers to give dudes condoms in jail right after claiming that most of the in jail sex was rape... wtf.
I don't know there was more problems but I swear this show had me hoping that they just go back to booty shaking videos, cause if this is your only source of news, I feel so sorry for you.
